The Economics of our Environment

Would you believe me if i said something as simple as an inch of snow or a 40 mph wind effects our economy? What about the weather on a much grander scale? Do tornadoes in California really have that profound of an impact on the Economy in Japan or England? If you said no, you might be wrong...
Take a look for instance at the Flood that wiped out the Indonesia Capital of Jakarta, waves as big a 6 to 7 feet slammed into the city stranding thousands. How could a devastating storm millions of miles away have any effect on the U.S.'s economy? Indonesia is the largest clothing producer in the world, followed closely by Vietnam. If the town goes underwater, the production of a t-shirt decreases for that plant, increasing the price or shifting more work to other factors, also increasing price. All as a side effect of some water.
Or look at the effects on the Economy, after Hurricane Katrina. Practically the entire city and 1/2 the state of Louisiana was under tens of feet of water.Buildings were destroyed, millions of people were evacuated of stranded and more than ten off shore oil drilling rigs were damaged. The economy for that area literally stopped, oil production was slowed to a halt and besides the people who chose to stay behind were gone. Oil prices sky rocketed and donation stations as well as thousands of rescue workers were sent in to clean up. New Orleans at one point in time, was the min stay in economy due to it's placement near the Mississippi River and Gulf Coast. People didn't travel as much and saved more. Even the sports world was feeling a hit, loosing the arena's and stadiums in New Orleans. All over a hurricane.

O'bama in 08 !!!!

FINALLY, Barack O'Bama, the most politically spoken and understanding as well as kind and ethically strong man since the Kennedy's has entered the race for the American Presidency. That's right, after a long wait since his election into the Illinois Senate, the fast raising senator announced his bid for the presidency open in 2008 on the lawns of hometown Springfield, Illinois. He joins the current senator of Arizona John McCain, former North Carolina senator John Edwards, countless no name independent and republican candidates and possibly Hilliary Clinton for the Dem's to take control of the White House. The near guarantee is that the Democrats will regain the control of White House and continue the current control of the House and Senate. Obama, son of a black Kenyan goat herder and White Kansas women who met in Hawaii is the known for his opposition to the Iraq War and then Redeployment of over 2,000 American Armed Forces Personal in recent months. He believes in restoring the American people's power in the world and freeing the people from "Political Tyranny". If elected, he plans to reform Social Security, (a promise failed by George W. Bush), place a tariff on American Business' overseas to keep jobs in America and most of all, Restore our faith in the Government. Obama's Pledge for Presidency comes after a recent Poll reveals that Bush's popularity has fallen to 305, leaving close to 3/4 of the American population, demanding better and now. He is a special kind of politician, hardened by his life and first hand seeing the poverty imposed by our government that favors the wealthy business owner over the average Joe's of our society. After his family split when he was 14, the lived with Grandparents, while his father relocated to Kenya and his Mother to France with the Peace Corps. He is educated from Harvard Law, majoring and teaching in Constitutional Law. he believes the Constitution in the way it was written, not interpreted. He is the new face of America, undaunted by his father's religion, mother's innocence and personal race and/or color, he yields the ability to move people like that of the Kennedy's and Dr. King, he believes in not convincing you to believe him, but prove to you that he is capable of handling such a task as the New United States President in 2008.
If you are interested in a change and still believe in the United States that was established by our founding fathers, I urge you follow this link and consider the change in politics, consider the vote for better and consider the vote for O'Bama, Click Here

The Puzzling Economics of World of Sports

In an article recently published by Allen R. Sanderson, he discusses the shocking surprise the world of entertainment have on the live of all. Sanderson talks the gross difference between pay of major athletes and movie stars. The author can't figure out a Kelsey Graham can get 37 million over 2 years or an Alex Rodriguez can sign for no less than 25 million a season. Parents complain about the rising cost of everything around them, but don't hesitate to take the family to a baseball game or a concert. The economics of this issue are outstanding. What does a baseball player or a movie star do that deserve a 37 million dollar contract or furthermore, why are we so easily seduced into these schemes and dish out the high prices? I think it's a serious psychological issue that turns into a major economical issue. In order to afford the tickets, we must save more or work more, causing a flux in the economy. Then we must drive there (IE. gas demand goes up) and all of this is done in preparation. Then once we get to the game or movie, we must pay for a high priced ticket to see it. If the team suddenly picks up a member that requests 30 million a year just to wear the uniform or read a line, that money has to come from somewhere. Even if the person didn't cost 30 million and an average of 800,000, ticket prices would still increase in the value of the market and instead of the money entering an athlete's hand or actors pocket, it goes to the owner. Even more, we support the athletes by buying jerseys and collectibles in their name. Yet again, turning the wheels on a vicious machine called our economy.

The New Hiroshima

There are many things about the war on terrorism( Which technonically doesn't exsist, it is merely Operation Iraqi Freedom, due to Bush not recieving the congresses backin on the war and yet again, flexing his muscles to show dominance). Like the enemy itself. Listen to any of our Presidents speech's and you'll hear the same thing repeated....Terrorists or "Islamic Facists". The "war" has a faceless enemy. Who decides who's not going to harm us and who is? Look at the Lackawanna Six, six muslim men who covered the fact that they participated in an Al-Queda funded terrror camp by saying they were tracing thier religion. Or how about the name John Walker Lindh, a poor soul mentioned in his fifteen minutes of fame, joined the Taliban in June of 2001, while studying the Muslim religionin Pakistan. Who's to say that this man isn't a terrorist? Didn't he train with the group suspected to be behind the attacks on 9/11? My point, is that it is hard to target a faceless enemy, one who is only targeted by thier faith and commitment to a certain religion. While still on the idea of 9/11, we attacked Afghanistan for thier terrror training camps and for the head of Osama bin Laden. We attacked Iraq because of a serious enough threat of Mass Destruction Weapons and to avenge the killings of thousands of Kurds by Hussein. Since the first invasion, we have lost Bin Laden, convicted and executed Saddam Hussein for mass murder, basically relocate the terrorists to respond against U.S. forces, lost hundreds of thousands of American Armed forces personnel and for what? Tracking weapons of mass destruction that still remain missing. Now why we didn't attack Pakistan which produced 9 of the hijackers is a question that needs to be asked. Lets take a look at World War II, after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that claimed over 300 American lives, we retailated not only by joining the second world war, but by dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Maybe the same idea is in play for Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm not trying to say, lets turn the country into glass, but there's gotta be some way of showing all nations, dreaming of attacking the United States, that there will be serious consequences. After WWII, we enganged in a war over the freedom of South Korea, which was battled on Japan's doorstep. Have we seen any serious attacks on our embassy's or soverign lands from the Japanese? No, because they've learned, through the hard way, not to embark on efforts to harm the United States. I'm merely stating that another example needs to be shown to re-establish our dominance after countless failed wars with questionable motives.(Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraqi Frredom, Enduring Freedom)
